Moving Thoughts
Happy Summer.
It's been a little while.
Honestly... I think I'm finally starting to understand what people mean when they say, "The summer just got away from me."
Because that's exactly what's happened.
June brought a little bit of a pause, but it also brought a whole lot of life. Since then, I've moved into a new home (that still has plenty of renovations ahead), welcomed a puppy into our family, and started planning a wedding.
Needless to say, the summer has flown by.
But in the best way.
I don't feel like I've missed it. I actually feel like I've lived it.
For those of you who have been here for a while, you'll know this little blog has existed almost as long as WHEREVERCO. itself.
Long before everyone was creating content for social media, I wanted a place that felt a little slower. Somewhere I could write, reflect, and share the things that don't always fit into an Instagram caption or a sixty-second video.
I remember someone asking me years ago, "What happens if Instagram disappears tomorrow?"
It was such a simple question, but it stuck with me.
If everything I wanted to share only lived on social media, then maybe I wasn't building something that could truly last.
So this little blog became my space.
A place to think out loud.
A place to hopefully make someone else feel a little less alone.
A place to celebrate the highs, work through the lows, and sometimes simply empty my mind.
Lately, I've been thinking a lot about balance.
For years, dance has been my entire world, and I wouldn't change that for anything.
I've been incredibly fortunate to always have meaningful work, wonderful students, supportive families, and opportunities that have challenged me to grow. Even when things felt uncertain, I somehow always knew what was next. I knew where I was teaching, what I was creating, and what I was working toward.
But somewhere along the way, I convinced myself that life had to be one or the other.
Either I was building my career...
Or I was building my personal life.
I never really believed I could have both.
This past year has shown me something completely different.
I've found spaces filled with people who genuinely understand my ideas and believe in the bigger vision I'm trying to build.
At the very same time, I've found space for myself.
For home.
For family.
For slowing down.
And to me, that's huge.
For the first time in a long time, I don't feel like I'm choosing between my dreams and my life. Somehow, they seem to be growing together.
I'm certainly not the biggest choreographer.
I'm not the most well-known dance educator.
I don't have an endless list of titles after my name.
But I do know what I'm doing.
I know I care deeply about the people I work with.
I know my clients trust me.
I know the families and dancers who continue to support WHEREVERCO believe in what we're creating.
And honestly...
That's enough.
Of course I still have big dreams.
I hope WHEREVERCO continues to grow in ways I can't even imagine yet.
But if I'm being truthful, it has never really been about building a name for myself.
It's always been about something bigger.
How can I help someone feel seen?
How can I help someone believe they are capable?
How can I create spaces where people feel like they belong?
For me, dance has simply become the way I do that.
For more than five years, I've asked myself what WHEREVERCO was really meant to become.
At first, I thought it was a dance company.
Then I thought it was choreography.
Then workshops.
Then education.
Then contemporary training.
With every new idea, I felt like I was getting closer, but something still didn't feel complete.
This year, it finally clicked.
WHEREVERCO was never just about dance.
Dance is simply the vehicle.
The heart of WHEREVERCO has always been community.
It's about creating spaces where people feel connected—not only to movement, but to themselves and to one another.
It's about helping people recognize that they are enough exactly as they are while encouraging them to continue growing.
It's about moving together through every season of life.
Whether that's in a preschool dance class, a contemporary workshop, an educator training session, or an adult Summer Session, the purpose is still the same.
Connection.
Recognition.
Reflection.
Those three words have quietly been guiding me for years, and I don't think I fully realized it until now.
The vision has become so much clearer.
It's funny how sometimes you spend years searching for something, only to realize it was right in front of you the whole time.
So today, I just wanted to share a little life update.
Life feels full.
I have a home.
Food on the table.
A puppy keeping us on our toes.
A wedding to look forward to.
People I love.
Work that fills my heart.
And I'm still dancing.
Truthfully...
I'm not sure I could ask for much more than that.
To everyone who's been following along with WHEREVERCO—whether you've been here since the beginning or you've only recently found this little corner of the internet—thank you.
Thank you for reading.
Thank you for supporting.
Thank you for believing in the vision, even during the years when I was still trying to figure it out myself.
I hope wherever this summer finds you, you've been able to slow down, soak in the little moments, and appreciate exactly where you are.
Because sometimes, happiness isn't found in what's next.
Sometimes it's realizing that what you've been building all along has become exactly what you hoped it would.
Until next time,
Victoria
